BIKE RODEO

This event offers safety skill-building activities, obstacle courses, free bike helmets (supplies limited), free bike safety checks, refreshments, bike decorating, and kid’s activities.

Arvada Police Department’s Drug Take Back
The 2018 event is April 14,

When over-the-counter or prescription medications are expired or no longer needed, they should be removed from the home. Many people believe that the best way to dispose of unused or expired medications is to flush them down the toilet. However, this pollutes our waterways and adversely affects wildlife and plant life along our streams and rivers.

The Drug Take Back program gives residents a safe way to dispose of these types of medications. Simply gather up your unused, unwanted and expired medications and bring them to the Arvada Police Headquarters parking lot, where you can drive up, hand off and drive away.

STORM SPOTTER TRAINING

Storm Spotter Training is a class offered through the National Weather Service (NWS) in partnership with the City of Arvada. The spotter program is an essential part of the NWS’ warning process. The training provides you with information on how to safely report severe weather and be “eyes on the sky” for the NWS. During the training, you will learn about thunderstorms and cloud features that could be threatening to our community. The class lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

ZOOM INTO NATURE

All ages welcome. Zoom into nature photography with the basics as we discover how to spot a great photo in nature. Ask questions about you mobile camera or just enjoy the Majestic View as we practice outside during the golden hour. Bring your camera and sign up online as space is limited.

HOPE HOUSE 5K & FUN RUN
Saturday, May 5th / 9:00am-11:00am
Lake Arbor Park, 6400 Pomona Drive
Perfect for runners and walkers as well as competitive racers (it’s an official BolderBOULDER qualifier!), the course features a paved trail strollers welcome! The morning also includes all sorts of fun activities for kids, so register soon! It’s a great way to support the free self-sufficiency programs for teen moms at Hope House!

Become a Citizen Scientist for Monarchs-Training Day

Do you love butterflies? Then join our Citizen Science team to help understand the breeding range of monarch butterflies in Colorado. Partake in our all-day training on the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (www.mlmp.org). You’ll learn about monarch biology, monitoring milkweed for caterpillars, and how you can help save the monarch! The training is free, but a $20 donation is suggested for your own monitoring kit.
